I am finally back into the blogging sphere.

Not for leisure this time but for school work!

This is my final year of Masters in Architecture, one more semester to go; so close! Finally I will be graduating and the working world awaits for me :)

I have set up another blog called Sydney Mosque which is my Final Year Project. This blog will document all my work throughout the year long project.

Yes, I am designing a mosque in Sydney and No, fyi there won't be any gigantic onion.

It's nice to be back here in Singapore. I can't quite call it as my home but I am very familiar with all the senses here.

I just came back from Melbourne, actually a few days ago (Sorry if I didn't make much effort to meet you guys in Melbourne). After the trip I got infected by virus and was feeling hor-ri-gi-bal but I am fully recovered now *phew*.

Anyway, I love Melbourne; not all goody goody (cause the beach sucks big time) but I can at least see myself living in Melbourne. Said that, I do love Sydney's blue sky and beautiful ~~bitches~~ beaches but I think I prefer Melbourne. Maybe will move there :)

1 more week in Sydney and I will soon be back on the equator. Firstly I will arrived in Singapore before heading back to Klang just before New Year. I can't wait to eat me Yakun Kaya Toast, Char Kuey Teow, Roti Canai and all the super delicious, ubber oily and unhealthy stuff! yum yum!!!

This time, I will leave Sydney for 2 months and enjoy the tropics.

I obviously have not been updating my blog for a long long time.

I guess I am way more occupied now than before but I will try to make time to blog more because I do enjoy blogging for don't know what reason in particular.

Uni is as busy as usual but I can't be bothered to complain and telling you how busy I am because no one will truly understand by myself. (ironically I sounds like I am complaining)

Anyways, it's 6 more weeks to the end of semester! Woo hoo!! then it will be my 4 months summer vacation. too long? NAH! :p

I miss home, I miss Klang, I miss Singapore.

These pictures were taken 3 weeks ago :) when mom and dad were here for my Bachelor graduation. (fyi,I'm graduated with my degree but I am currently still in uni doing my coursework master in architecture)

So this semester is the first semester for my 2 years master.

Finally, I finished my Studio submission yesterday "phew".

I'm a little less busy now but I still have 2 more assignments due and an exam to go before school ends. 3 more weeks before I officially 'merdeka' (when my semester ends).

I can't wait for winter holiday because I am going Europe with my family! hurrayy.. I'm very excited to get a break from this stressful semester.

I hope I'll start blogging again.. maybe I should do a facelift for my blog skin, oh! actually I wanted to convert my blog to my own domain so that i can have my own dot com but too lazy to learn how to do that :(

but I will, someday...

Anyway, I went to work for 2 hours today and dance class. I am tired and sleepy now. So, goodnight!

Geez, It has been a long time since i last posted an entry.

It has been an extremely busy semester and I foresee will be as busy for the next 6 weeks or so, which is mainly the reason why I am not able to post anything.

I have not been going out much and completely surrender my weekends to Uni work :( but luckily I like what I am doing despite the pain :)

However, Dad and Mom is coming next week!! for my graduation. Woo hoo, I am very excited.

Oh ya, I need to organize their itinerary.

Besides that, the Chinese student from Nanjing are here in Sydney. Last week we presented our final Nanjing studio project. It was the ~~never-ending~~ studio program that I did last summer in Nanjing and finally, it is officially over *phew*.

So, nothing really exciting to blog except school work and office life which will probably kill my readers' interest.

It's not all bad though, I do go out for dinners and make yummy dinners at home with my new lovely housemate.s Last weekend, we they made Bah Kut Teh, herbal chicken soup and curry laksa mee. yum yum!

I only had an hour of sleep yesterday because of my studio Interim submission today, so I better off to bed soon.

I've moved to Kingsford, sharing an apartment with few friends.

I am extremely busy with school works,

that's why I literally didn't have any time to blog or

maybe it's because it's less liberating for me to blog these days.

It's Good Friday today,

I woke up at 5am to do work, because I slept at 9pm yesterday.

It has been very busy, tiring for the past few weeks, but I am glad it is.

I love school and work, it may be tiring but I enjoy it.

(it's a reassurance to meself)

It'll be our term break next week but as usual, I have quite a lot of things to do and I'm going to do 4 days of work.

I skipped my office this week, so I'll have to earn more to cover my expenses.

I'll try harder to spend less but it's not very easy, at least for me.

I am going for picnic later at the Botanical Gradens,

I've started school for 2 weeks now.

As usual, filled with ~~excitement~~ assignment.

Besides that, I go to office for 2 days a week.

Mom and Dad are coming to Sydney in May for my Bachelor graduation. It's Dad's first time to the land down under, I'm very excited for him. I hope is not too chilly by then.

School started this week

I have gotten all my project brief for all my courses and I am simply excited for this semester.

I am currently a little busier than usual simply because I need to finish up my Nanjing course work which I am procrastinating since last week *grrr..*,

do my school work (4 subjects this sem) and go to office (will try to go in 2.5 days a week).

Well, it is going to be a crazy semester but nevertheless I am super enthusiastic *keke*

I haven't move to my new place and still bunking at Justin's place.

I'll move into my new place by the end of this month and until now the room arrangement can't be confirm, so I may or may not share a room.
I better get back to work now.

Btw I watched watchman yesterday. It was quite nice but boring.

I've been busy working at Sam Crawford Architect and doing some University work.

Studio in Nanjing

Our studio session lasted for 3 weeks which is practically our whole trip.

This was one of our lecture in the same studio.

Well, I hardly listen to any of the lectures.

Me tutoring my professor's daughter :)
My favourite time of the day: Lunch! *and dinner too*
It was super cheap and they can deliver to the studio with no extra charges,

that explains my weight gain.
Oh..and I had so much Mandarin oranges, especially the mini ones. It was so sweet, nothing like the ones you get in Malaysia during Chinese New Year.
I ate so much that I could even make a flower and this was only a morning worth of consumption (approx 7).

First Day at Nanjing

2nd January 2009: First day of studio in Southeast University, Nanjing.

Look at the site model (above) they made, impressive.
The studio was not the prettiest but good enough for us.
After morning briefing, we went straight to our site.

Our project site is an old industrial park which was introduced during the Qing Dynasty and reflects on the movement of westernisation in China. We were asked to redesign a section of the park and convert it into an art and culture/ commercial district (Basically to rejuvenate the site ~~for cultural and social gain~~ to gain profit ).
It was a fun site to work with until we realise the work load.

It has only been a month and I could hardly remember all the details, so just look at the pictures and it is no as if you guys are reading the text. am I right? am I right? you suck and I am handsome, see.. you are not reading :p

New Year has passed,

I am looking forward for my new semester and my job.

I arrived Sydney yesterday from Singapore.
Well, I spent a few days in Singapore after leaving Klang to catch up with some friends.
Anyway, I had a lazy Sunday and bunk at Justin's place (because I am homeless atm). I will be back to work at Sam Crawford tomorrow.
My blog is going down with the economy crisis and yet I am so lazy to upload all my holiday pictures but I will do it soon!

Still in Nanjing

Tomorrow (thursday) will be the last day of studio at Southeast Uni.

I am leaving Nanjing to Shanghai on Friday and Hangzhou on Saturday before I go back Malaysia.

Finally!

It has been so intense for the past 3 weeks, we literally work 7 days a week and hardly go anywhere except for uni.

I can't believe it's finishing soon, although we had over pre-final presentation yesterday but we still have so much work to be done for our final presentation at Sydney in April. It's fun, I have no regrets but it is way way way more work than i could ever expect. Imagine this, we hav to put up 20a1 boards in 1 week.

It amazing how much work we have done within these 3 weeks, it's more than 2 semester worth of work.

but it's all for good
I am simple excited to be back to Malaysia soon for Chinese New Year!

Back in Singapore again - Happy and Sad

So I am back in Singapore for a couple of days.

from 25th -30th Dec to be exact.

I reached Singapore on 25th Dec (Thursday) at night.

After putting my stuff at Junko's place, I rushed to City Hall to meet up with Kenneth and Jacelyn. We had supper at Lau Pa Sat and stayed over at Jace's place, had a wonderful time with my best buddies! That nigth they made me laugh so hard that I could almost wee in my pants bit I didn't!

On Friday, Jace and I visited Jun Jie (Dancesport Friend from Poly) at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Jun Jie met with an accident last Sunday; He was riding his bike with Emi (his gf) and got knocked down by a drunk diver. He fell into coma since then and luckily Emi was safe and only suffered from light brushes and cuts.

It was terribly heart breaking to see Jun Jie, such a young (20years old) and handsome boy lying on a ICU bed with all the life-supporting systems attached to him. I chanted aloud beside his ear for 10mins (with Jacelyn on the other side), absolutely believing in the power of Daimoku (chanting) to awaken his Buddha nature within him and hope the best for him.

As you can see on the following post - Sadly Jun Jie left us on Saturday morning.

On Friday evening I met up with the rest of the Dancesport friends.

We had a great time at NYDC (Suntec) for dinner and took many picture as usual.

Later that evening I meet up with Poh Cheng at Balaclava and Yennee joined us as well. After Bala we went to Geylang, not for 'chicken' but beef hor fun.

After Hor fun we had tau foo fa, Hurrrayyy.... my favourite food of all time! :) with you tiau.. scrumptious!

On Saturday afternoon - I attended (my Poly classmate aka Datin) Zakiah's engagement which was the main reason for this trip :)

It was my first time attending a Malay engagement ceremony and it was indeed very interesting, tried to be a translator to my fellow non-Malay speaking friends but failed miserably. Anyway, I would like to congratulate my dearest Datin and I am truly happy for you! All the best Datin! Oh ya and the food was amazing. Of course I had to have 2 rounds :) + 1 round for desert! yum! yum!

After the engagement I went to Jun Jie's wake.

In the evening, I went to Singapore National Library to do some studies for the Nanjing trip next week.

I have to sleep soon because I have to wake up early tomorrow to attend Jun Jie's funeral.

Nope!

Last weekend was a slow weekend,

I stayed at home the whole day on Saturday and

prepared dinner for Sue Ann, Robin and Kexin. I made roasted chicken and roasted vegetables. It was relatively alright, I am happy with the roasted chicken. Ah Mei joined us later for movie at my place.

On Sunday I had brunch with Dad and Mom.

In the afternoon I went to midvalley with Ah Mei, Ah Meng and Choon See.

Dad and I had dinner at Berkeley with Lay Koon (my cousin) and family.

On Monday, I stayed at home the whole morning and accompanied Dad to see doctor in the afternoon.

In the evening I had dinner with Vivien (UNSW course-mate) and watched movie at Jusco Klang with another friend of hers, Lip ping.

Tomorrow I'll be going KL to collect my China Visa and meet a few more UNSW buddies for lunch. Vivien will be fetching me, hurrayy!! I'll accompany her to do her christmas present shopping as well.

It will be exciting!

I am going to Singapore on the 25th of Dec which is this Thursday!

I came back to Klang (Malaysia) from Singapore on Tuesday.

On Wednesday I went to KL to apply my China Visa and jalan jalan alone! :)

Today, I did facial and had lunch with Vivien.

I am looking forward for my China trip on 2nd Jan which is very soon :)

Besides that, I'm just going to relax in Klang, spend time with Mom and Dad, catch up with friends. Oh ya, and I'll be going back to Singapore next week for a couple of days! very excited!

not hinting just stating a fact. It's sad simply because I LOVE taking pictures so much. Oh well, I'll buy me'self a SLR when I can afford one. very soon i will! and did I mention that I lost my job in Sydney? :(

I am finally back in Singapore but I'll only be here for 2 days, so I might not be able to meet everyone but I'll come back during christmas.

I am in holiday mood (almost).

It took me an excruciating 12hours to get to Singapore from Sydney, thanks to Jetstar.

I'll miss Sydney.

Anyway, It's 1.40am now in Singapore and I arrived at 10.30pm earlier this evening. I am craving and dying to have local food here. I can't wait to have all the yummylicious kuey chap, kuey teow, rojak, nasi lemak, roti, yakun.. omg.. I'll try to eat everything tomorrow. In fact I am so excited that I can't sleep. hehe.

I hope i don't get sick with food which I am quite certain I won't.

Breakfast: under chef Yuvi's supervision, Evolin and I prepared a scrumptious and simply delicious gourmet breakfast,

Poach egg and saute spinach on English muffin with hollandaise sauce and served with baked tomatoes.
I know how to make it! (Mom will be very proud of me) Woo hoo!

After that we walked to Surry Hills to do more shopping!
It was great, found this wonderful place called Mushu
where I bought some souvenirs to bring back to Malaysia and so did Evolin. Yuvi bought a beautiful dress from there as well. It was indeed a productive day.

While walking along Crown St at Surry Hills, we stumble upon a cupcake boutique.
It was the best cupcakes I've ever tasted (yet), called Sparkle Cupcakery
which is apparently similar to the Sprinkles cupcakes at LA.
Oh well, it's very good though.
I love the Greentea cupcakes which had sago inside and yummy icing on top.
The cakes are not too sweet which is at ++

It was a spontaneous decision but we had fun! We didn't buy anything and had coffee at our favorite second-hand bookstore opposite Glebe Market. Actually I bought a book from the bookstore :)

I just feel like babbling about my life now.

School ended 2 weeks ago and despite of the cruel recession I am working full-time at my architectural office. Thanks Boss S!

Even though there is nothing much to do in the office but Boss S stills want me to come in everyday until I leave Australia on 12th Dec, which I can't wait btw.

I am currently staying at Yuvi's place at Pyrmont together with Evoline and Andrew. I am staying in the biggest room in the house, furnished with TV and Wii, which is the living room :) They are kind enough to offer me their wonderful place, where I can enjoy my 30 minutes walk through Darling Harbour to work everyday. I am truly grateful.

Oh ya, did I mention that their place is literally opposite Sydney fish market. OMG it's the best market - freshest sashimi, yummiest oyster... oo the list goes on. So just give me a call if you happen to drop by fish market, I'll be more happy to be your makan kaki (eating partner) *huge smile*

3 more weeks before I go back up to the equator and have sweaty armpit everyday.

Weather down under is not great atm but it's ok for me - just need an umbrella..ella..ella..eh eh eh... but mine jahanam (spoil) :(

My 'near' future is still very uncertain *sigh*, either too bright or too dark.

To study or not to study.

I need to ask Boss S if he is willing to sponsor me a work permit to work here next year, so i might take a year off before continuing my Master.

So I can save some money for my studies the following year.

During the year off, I can apply for other universities and HOPEFULLY will get to study in London or States :)

I need to find Sugar Mama or Sugar Daddy (Anyone????) to sponsor me or else will resolve in the old fashion way - scholarship.

The excitement to collect developed camera film (yesh, not deegeetal~~) is electrifying, oohhh yes.. *eh hem*. Remember how we use to develop film and would bring back from our holidays rolls and rolls of camera films? When friends want to have a copy we'll have to pass them the negative instead of a thumbdrive/cd.
Now, it seems indigenous and almost 'uncool' to even buy a camera film, let alone carrying a film camera UNLESS you have a lomo camera! :)

Finally my studio submission is over!

After many sleepless nights and much junk food,

yet I didn't fulfill all the requirements *sigh* :(

but luckily I got a pretty good review from the juries *phew*

I am a little disappointed with myself as this is my graduation project and yet I didn't do as well as I've expected, I felt I could do way..... better in so many ways, but I did my best. So, I am only disappointed but definitely no regrets.

Btw, thanks Shi for having me at her place the night before submission.

Ivonny is in town! Hurray! I am really happy that she came to my presentation on Thursday.

She helped me to pin my boards and gave her moral support which i totally don't need it.. :p Kidding!

Because of Ivonny, I had a BIG weekend.

I am screwed with my design studio *sigh*.

(for non archi-peeps, in architecture course, design studio is our main subject and if you fail this subject, you'll fail your course)

It's 2 weeks to Final Submission and I am redesigning everything. Everyone is working on construction details (well, not everyone) and I am still working on the master planning.

I can't believe it! normally I'll lock my design from quite an early stage but not this time.

I am worried.

Yes, I am.

However I think it's a great opportunity for me *mr.positive*, because it's gonna be a real challenge this time and I mean it!

Honestly, unlike the past years of architecture which has been less challenging for me (but still requires an infinite amount of time, that is simply because of the ~~curse~~ nature of architecture) but not this time.

I am determine to do my best!

So I'll be extremely busy within these 2 weeks.

I'll have to juggle between school and work.

Woo Hoo!

After 4 weeks in the hospital, I can imagine how happy he is.

Today I accompanied him to do his physiotherapy at the rehabilitation centre (gym) I did cycling together with him :)

After physio, I wheel-chaired him back to his ward.

He's now a veteran at his ward because as I pushed him through the ward's foyer, all the nurses asked "Mr Teh! How are you?" and Dad gently nodded to everyone with a smile.

So did I (tumpang kemasyhuran) hehe.

3 more days in Malaysia!

Now that Dad is better, I am excited to go back to Sydney for school, work and friends! :)

Dad is fully recovered from his severe confusion and hallucination.

Hurrayyy!!!! Thanks for all the prayers!!!

He woke up at 1.30pm on Sunday (12/10/08), after 31hours of sleep and asked me what happened to him? why is he in a private room?

'Yes! He's back to himself!'

It was the 12th day after his operation and he doesn't remember anything for the pass 12 days.

He felt like he had the longest sleep and woke up to realized that 12 days has passed.

It's amazing how drugs are able to cause such a phenomena.

Scary indeed!

But I have my real Dad back! Phew!!

It was such a pain to see him suffer from his hallucination for the past 12 days with only 1 night of sleep in total. Every night is a struggle for him and myself (and nurses).

It was horrible, stormy but humorous at times.

He slapped and spited on me several times but most of the time he talked to the unknown around him and had constant severe tremor (It was so bad that it almost convince me that he is possessed but NO!), and the dramas happen mostly midnight.

I will chant Nam Myo Ho Renge Kyo until I fall a sleep while the private nurse will chant Jesus's name. She was terrified.

I am so glad it is over and Dad has recovered.

Continue to pray for Dad's health because he will need to go for the major operation in 6months time.

He's currently still in the hospital, started his physiotherapy today; Dad managed to stand up and will try to do walking tomorrow.

I went for a lovely ferry ride with Justin (My first ferry ride in Sydney Harbour)

In the evening I meet up with Vivian, Shi and Sam for dinner at The Rocks Pancake at Darling Harbour.

After dinner, we went to Star City Casino where I we lost $200 Aud (money courtesy Sam) in 5 minutes :(

I flew to Singapore and then to Malaysia.

Upon arrival in Singapore, the first thing I bought was Killiney Kaya toast!

My dad had some complication from his operation and the prime suspect is the drug. So he is in tremendous confusion and hallucination, he didn't sleep for 7 days, unbelievable. (me: 2 days, but slept like an infant yesterday)

However he is SLEEPING now!!

You have no idea how happy I am.

Hopefully he'll sleep like a baby!!

Jaymy, Mom and Fugi picked me up from the airport and

off to SJMC (hospital) to visit dad.

They bought me a surprise cake as well, but the silly waiter 'boo boo' and brought the cake out infront of me, there were some awkward moment but I remained quiet. Anyway I am very happy that they bought me cake which I didn't expect as well, so it is still considered as a surprise :)

Although I was only 7/8 (can't remember) but I vividly remembered the day Dad brought me into the photography studio.

In the studio, Dad combed my hair before he puts on his coat. At that time, I didn't question him why are we taking this photograph. I never did.

One day I over heard mom's conversation with aunty Cathy....

Please pray for dad, he's going for another major operation next Tuesday, after 12 years.

Guess what?

Sun is back and the sky is clear.

Today, I had lunch with Evolin at Single Origins.

It's nice and coffee is great (but not as good as campos according to Evo).

Bangers n mash potatoes, pork.... (Can't remember the name)

I had Hamburger *smile*, Angus meat with beetroot on rustic bread, there's rocket leaves and tomatoes also. Yum! It gets abit messy, but they provide a cup of hot water with lemon. So if you are there, use your hand and dig in. Juicy'ly delicious!

Sunday:

Saturday night was not cold at all, unlike the previous night.

So, finally I can afford to wear my sexy FBT shorts to bed. Yes!

I woke up at 10.20am, did some ironing before I shower.

Justin picked me up at 11.30am for brunch at Brontti (which is just behind my house) but I was late, so Justin had to wait for me *paiseh*. Sorry..!

We had truffle scramble eggs and it was a little over-done but I still like it.

note: It was my first time having black truffles but it was just a few black spots on the eggs (not complaining) *hehe*

I will definitely go back for more..

After our lovely brunch, I hopped on the train to City to meet Evolin and Cleresta.

Then UV and Andrew came to picked us up from market city and drove us to glebe.

We had coffee at Sappro Cafe (a second-hand book cafe at glebe point st).

The cafe is pretty cool, you are allowed to bring any books from the shop to your table to read them while having your coffee. Coffee was pretty good btw.

The cafe is at the rear of the shop, it looks like someones backyard.

Saturday:

Although it was a bloody good day (28deg),

I had to stay at home the whole day and read my HTA (history and theory of architecture).

In the evening, Cleresta called me and asked me if I would like to meet them at Darling Harbour for mooncakes at 9pm.

I could no longer do any more readings, as I had killed 85% of my active brain cells, I decided to go.
Honestly I am not a big fan of mooncakes but I do have my cravings for them sometimes.

On Wednesday I had to go to work after school to finish up my job :(

I worked until 8pm and went home straight after.

At home, I had to work on my studio (school) work and went to bed at 5am but I managed to get myself to school at 10.20am the next day (class starts at 10am though).

I had a super-intense discussion with my substitute tutor (My tutor, Wendy is at Venice) and even told her that she talked too much *gulp*. It was purely professional though and simply base on facts, I didn't take it personally. However today, I calmly think of our discussion and realize she did evoke a lot of stuff in me which is good. Frankly speaking it was my first time that I didn't get any positive comment from a tutor on my work which I work so hard on (maybe she did) so I find it very difficult to accept the fact. My big fat EGO! *sigh* I am working on it!

Anyway, after studio I randomly shouted "Let's go Shopping!!!!"

Suprisingly a few of them are up for it. Oh well, let's go!!

Instead of shopping, it turns out to be a big Fun night w/o shopping!!!

Morning was so sunny, bright and warm, very promising: yes! Spring is here! Woo Hoo.. How exciting! I no longer need to wrap up myself like ba chang (dumpling) anymore.

Last two days weather wasn't that kind though, it rained non stop on Friday until Saturday. My umbrella is officially unusable -_- 5 of the skeleton has broken so I gave up and just walked under the rain, which is quite common here not to hold an umbrella unlike Singapore or Malaysia.

Today is the first Sunday of the month, means Kosen-rufu Meeting Day (World Peace Chanting as known in Malaysia - a monthly chanting session for SGI all over the world).

I woke up ~~early~~ on time, erm actually late. Anyway I got to the Soka Cultural Centre at 10.30am (suppose to be there at 10am). I shared my experience on Oceania Peace Conference which was the conference I went, held at Gold Coast last 2 weeks. I was really excited and nervous because it was my first time talking in front of so many people as far as I can remember. It went really well, I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be, in fact I was really comfortable talking in front of everyone. [ I will post my experience in my blog soon :) ]

There were 2 amazing performances today.

First - Junko the Opera singer with Constantin as the pianist. Enjoy! sorry for the wrong sided video, stupid me *sigh*

Second - It was a self compose song by the Pianist (I forgotten his name). Very nice indeed! (Kelly! If you are here, you'll definitely perform with them and too bad I can't, only if you could give me some of your music talent)

I should be out of this busy routine in no time and really looking forward for it. I can't wait to get back my social life.

Yesterday, I was *so very* determined to wake up early in the morning to do some chanting before work, however I lost all my determination in my sleep.

(actually I have the same determination every night before I sleep)

Today, as I walk into the studio, I saw Chloe with a party hat on! and everyone too, including Boss S.

I started laughing out loud and quickly took my ~~camera~~ phone out.

It was H's Birthday (the baby architect that I am working for).

He hates celebrating his birthday and deny his birthday too, but we kindly planned a week before the surprise celebration for him.

I think he secretly loved it!

However he didn't bring cake (It's a custom in out office to bring cake during your Bday. OMG and my Bday is coming...)

Saturday - a beautiful sunny Saturday.

I spent my whole day at my office, working. It was a productive day though, I got much of my works done and left at 4.30pm :)

In the evening I went to UNSW to attend UNIBUDS (UNSW buddhist society) annual Bodhi Nite entitled Seeds of Tomorrow, Blossoms of Yesterday.

It was mainly about the law of cause and effect (karma).

There were monks and nuns too (with their cool brown and grey robes). I like! :)

The members put up a play which was good and funny.

It was interesting to listen to a different perspective of Buddhism from the monk and it provokes many questions in my mind which I shall dwell on it later.

Anyway, I sat with Vivian, Sam and Justin.

Thanks Justin for sending Vivian and me home!

I tried to do some studio work when I reached home... well at least I tried.

Sunday - not sunny but wet

I woke up at 7.50am.

After a quick shower I left home to Soka Cultural Centre to help out in the Men's Division Commemorative Meeting.

Ben and I barbecued the sausages :)

Thank God for my huge glasses to shield me from the smokes.

I left the centre at 1.30pm and went to the city with Miki and Ben for coffee.

Well, I forgotten to bring my keys out so I couldn't go home.

at 5pm I took a bus to Kindsford and meet up with Shi Ying before Michael came to pick us up for dinner at Paramatta, Carne Station Korean Barbecue.

It was a good dinner, I loved the sweet and spicy pork, beef, Korean potato noodles and fried dumpling. I have to admit though, after a whole morning of barbecuing, it wasn't the best thing to do which is to barbecue again for dinner but I enjoyed the dinner a lot *hehe*. I think I would have eaten more if I didn't bbq in the morning..

These days, I am a little tied down by my school works and not forgetting my office works as well which is a good thing ( in case it sounded like a complain *hehe*)

Well, it's the final semester after all, before I graduate with my first Bachelor.. So I am ever more determine to do my very best.. I am gonna squeeze every ounce of sweat and blood out of me! :) yupe!

I slept at 4.30am yesterday but I did a reasonable amount of work though for today's Design Studio class.

I had my studio presentation, fortunately Glenn was there!

I received good comments on my efforts and many constructive comments for my design. I am pretty excited to continue working on my design. Unfortunately I also have other modules to focus on *sigh*.

I have so many things to say but not everything I can say it out loud.

So I shan't say - no more!

Finally I have time to post some pictures during my Goldcoast trip last week. It's a Soka Conference (kenshukai).

Friday - I woke up at 7am, TK pick me up (by taxi) and off to Airport.

Today,

Bright sunny Sunday...it was :)

Miraculously, I woke up at 8am (partly because I slept at 10pm yesterday *hehe*).

However I am still very proud of myself *huge smile*.

I cleaned my room, did my laundry, showered, did gongyo, had breakfast and head off to City.

I met up with Naomi, Justin and Ivonne (J's friend) for the SydneyDesign event at the Powerhouse Museum. There was a Youngblood Designboom market where all the young designers (from all around the world) sell their products, very cool indeed!

After that we went to Sydney fish market and had a big feast.

We had seafood platter, sashimi, wakame, soft-shell crab, scallops,prawns and lobster.

Yum!!

After lunch, Ivonne drove Justin to David Jones for shopping and dropped Naomi and I at school to do models (Site model for Glenn's studio). I left school at 5pm though to catch my last bus home.

Anyway, I am going to Gold Coast this Friday for the Oceania Peace Conference (kenshukai by Soka).

So, I have to finish all my assignments before I leave.

It's going to be a busy week..

But I am excited!! as always....

-Blog in office-

I have had the best time at my recent school camping in Goolawah (near Crescent Head: 6 hours away, north Sydney).

Accommodation was way better than what I have expected, food was alright, weather was fantastic and friends were great! ;)

Besides architectural site visits (which is our main objective),

we spend most of our time in the 'resort'

playing ping pong, poker, sitting by the camp fire and

we also watched Olympics opening on Friday; well, most of us fell asleep during the contingent parade. I gave up and went to bed soon after.

We did stars watching on the first night (note: I saw 5 shooting stars in a night! my pocket was filled with wishes.. yes!).

We watched sun rise on the final morning.. beautiful indeed!

I will post all the pictures soon!

Meanwhile I am back in office, very busy with my construction set drawings.

Not forgetting my studio (school) presentation, both group and personal presentation on this Thursday... good luck to myself!

1 more day to camping trip :) I am still very excited!

Yesterday, I worked in the morning and rushed to school in the afternoon for a studio session.

-a new studio session-

I am going to Nanjing, near Shanghai.. WOO HOO!!!

Let me explain... it started a week ago, where I received an anonymous email regarding this elective course in Nanjing. Through the email I was told that there is only one more space left, so I decided to give it a try (why not right? and without much expectation as well....seriously)

However, 1 week later the lecturer ask me to drop by his office for an informal interview... so I did! Wa lah.... and I got it!!

Anyway it is not 1 placement left but 3... because a few of my new-classmates got in as well....

Anyway, I'll be going to Nanjing in January for 3 weeks.. not for holiday but to collaborate with students from South East University of China to do a full-studio project. Our site is obviously at Nanjing and we will be redeveloping an existing site (heritage conservation or more like conversion)....

I am super excited, as it will be my first time to step into China and it's time to polish my Chinese language and give justice to it! Yupe...and in no time I will be "zhi bu zhi" (yes no yes)..... inside joke..hehehe

Today, I returned to work....

was pretty slow at work but manage to sail through until 6pm.

I prepared maggie mee goreng a day before for lunch.

After lunch I walked to Oxford ARTs to get a drawing pad.

Behind my office, there was a shooting going on....

I was really curious (kepo) and amazed by all the equipments and they even set up temporary kitchen... I could smell their cooking from far....

they even set up rows of tables and chairs like a mini canteen...

Saw the cast practising boxing and make up tents....

But I don't recognize any of the actresses nor the actors..

I voluntarily participated and become the extras because I walked pass in front of the camera and the actress ... Btw, I did ask them before I walked across. The 'director' said out loudly "Cross, Cross.....It's a street not a film setting".....

-_- look at the pictures below and tell me is not a film setting.....

Anyway, if I am lucky I might be in that (whatever) film for a millisecond...

Another Sunny Saturday!! :)

I met Keev for lunch at Chu Mama at 12pm.

After lunch, we went Paddy's Market to get pants and socks for my camping trip on Thursday.. and jalan jalan around city until late afternoon before we returned to his place.

We played table tennis for a while at his place, together with Bobby and Ris.

Yuvi and Andrew came at 5pm and we watched 2 movies at his place.

Eddy Fattocini cooked dinner for us,

it was damn good!

He even make the Chinese roasted pork (seow bak) by himself...

First Day of Studio!

I got into Glenn Murcutt's Studio!

(note: Most famous Australian Architect in the world, Prizker Prize Award Winner *glory*)

How good is that!

Although Glenn is one of the world famous architect and a celebrity in the Architecture world, he is a humble man, a truly passionate man in architecture and a warm father figure.

Although he is 72 years old but he is still very bright and radiant.

Honestly I am not a big fan of his works but he is a great man to learn from and he is a one of the contemporary Master of architecture,

simply by mentioning his name, it will glorify my portfolio in a way or another.

I am just glad to be able to learn from him and he is quite an inspiration, not necessarily his architectural style or so-called his 'answers' to architecture but his principle that I can get a hold on it and have my own 'answers' to it.

I am surprise that Glenn will be joining us throughout the semester but he doesn't tutor. My tutor, Wendy is Glenn's wife.

After studio, we went to East Garden to do some shopping for our camping trip.

We were searching for wellington boots, because our site is a wetland.

I found mine, I wanted to find a similar one as Phua Chu Kang's boots but too bad only black...best in Eastgarden and Kesington..

First Day of School!

Today, I reach school at 9.45am but my class is at 10am!

Morning class was fine, only 1hour instead of a 3hours class.

So...after class Vivian, Shi Ying and I 'slack' at Jo Ann's apartment in the Uni (btw, we are the 4 Malaysians out of the 5 Malaysians from our cohort, co-incident heh).

At 1pm Jo Ann and I had a same class.

Managing Business!

The Lecturer was hilarious... I laugh so hard (almost did a wee wee in my pants but manage to suck it back)... hehe,he's like a stand up comedian.

Will be a fun lecture to attend!

After that class I went to Language School to enquire about Japanese language module. I was thinking of taking Japanese Language but I am late for the entry test, so I meet the sensei and told her abit about my Japanese education history and she allows me to take the module without taking the entry test.

Well...during the whole conversation,she spoke in Japanese..... I am surprise with myself for being able to understand her but I obviously couldn't answer her in Japanese, unless it was a hai/iie (yes/no) answer. I tried hard though to understand her. She basically ask me how long did I study Japanese? where? when? Do I watch Japanese Anime? read Manga?...etc

Anyway, I've decided not to take Japanese...because too many classes to attend for a 6credit unit module.

As I was walking down the campus....

Last Holiday Weekend

On Saturday, I started my day by cleaning up my room, my balcony,our toilet and did some hand-washing for my cloths *twink*.

In the evening I went to Summer Hill for Casper's (Soka friend) farewell party (reach at 8pm), he will be going back to Holland next week. It was great, met many new friends and I genuinely enjoyed chatting with new-met-friends. (note: I was the only Soka member that attended his farewell and the rest was his uni mates) Oh well, I love to stay with them a little longer but unfortunately I had to meet my Uni friends in the city so I left at 9.15pm.

After Casper's party. I went to 'Jackson on George' at Circular Quay(restaurant/club/pub) to meet Martinus, Adrian, Gordon and Gordon's friends.

I had a drink (coca cola, hehe), boogy a little and at 11pm Martin, Adrian and I walked to Bamboo Club (flooded with Indons and Koreans, felt truly Asia) at Martin Place. The rest of the girls were already there.

It had fun, I dance non-stop for almost 5hours (talking about stamina..hehe)... Dj was a little bit annoying, because he kept singing: "just play that music and stop singing"... I hate it when DJ tries to add their own vocal in.. bloody irritating.

I woke up at 12.30pm today,

showered and walked with Yuvi to Mamak Malaysia Restaurant (Chinatown) and had lunch there with my 2 Malaysian Uni friends, Shi Ying and Jo Ann.

Lunch was delicious!!

After Lunch, I went to 3mobile shop with Yuvi before we walked to King Cross for coffee and also did some window shopping. Around 5 something Andrew pick us up and fetch me home, Thanks Andrew!

In the evening, Matt invited some of his friends over for Dinner and I joined them. Yee Hwan cooked several dishes and It was delicious... :)

I did some cooking today!

I made some fried delicious meatballs, yum indeed!

Fried cabbage with dried shrimp... too salty though but it's ok,

to have it with plain rice.

and had fried long bean egg from yesterday's dinner which I cooked.

Cooking just for myself is pretty sad,

no one to complain to when it's too salty or

no one to praise me when it's perfect,

I wish to cook for someone I truly love!

only if Milo can have human food.

Unfortunately it turns out to be slow and not nice.

Dad is Cancer-free (thanks for all the daimoku and prayers),
Doctor said nothing can be done if it's a cancer relapse (my dad is a cancer survivor).. fortunately it is not cancer!
However the lump is cause by tuberculosis (TB) which can be treated with medication and hopefully his little growth on his spinal cord will disappear.
Dad just got home and ate a big bowl of porridge :) he lost 5kg in 1 week.. but I am sure he'll be much more comfortable at home.
The war is not over yet, but we certainly gained our first victory.
Next, Dad will still need to go for a major operation to reconstruct his colostomy and for his kidneys. I am not sure about the procedure but Doctor said he will need to rest for a while until his kidneys are strong enough before going through the surgery.
Well, I am feeling better now and less worried but still very concern.
However, I have a solid rock conviction that we will all get through this with our sincere prayers.

Very nice indeed.

I finished the 2-meal-portion lunch, wanted to save half for dinner but .. I didn't, simply because it was too delicious. I haven't had much appetite lately and this lunch box brought back my appetite :)

It's World Youth Day here in Sydney.

It's more like World Youth Week actually.

The whole city is literally flooded with enthusiastic catholics (not just youth, some not quite youth, maybe youth at heart, whatever..) from all around the world, wearing their respective flags and travel in big groups making all sort of noises with their tambourines and drums, some singing gospel songs while others merely shouting.

It is really vibrant and festive.

And not forgetting , The Pope is here!

Exciting huh! but I don't really know what are the agendas and events.

However you can't help but to notice thousand of people roaming around the city with their yellow backpacks, volunteers in their blue official outfits standing around the Central station to assist all the participants, banners everywhere and road blocks.... etc

I have to say, it wasn't authentic enough and more to Malaysia style judging by the colour and taste of the soup but serve with sweet soya sauce (more to Singapore style). It's good enough to satisfy our cravings.

I watched Dark Night today, It was fantastic!! I love it so much!!

well worth it, 2hours and 50minutes.... go to the cinema and watch guys, not cheapo'ly download off the net because the movie it's worth every penny.

It's Friday tomorrow!

Getting back to work on Monday from my holidays was more difficult than I thought. However by today I am starting to feel better.

To begin with, I was exile to one corner of my office because a new girl took over my place :( actually I felt happy also... because I like changes :)

So I am now sitting alone with 2 unoccupied PC beside me but it feels almost like a private office, with the new ~~pathetic~~ mini library by my side ( I put my stuff on the shelf as well ), a mini potted plant and beside a fire exit staircase.

oh ya I got a new PC on Monday and changed to another new PC on Tuesday.

Got a new Chair on Wednesday!

Anyway we will bw moving to a new place next month..

Today, Evo text me and ask me to meet her during lunch time, so I did. Yuvi was also there, we had coffee. Well, knowing that I am concerned about my dad they offer their help to me if I really need to go back.

I was and still am really 'kan tong' by their sincerity. Suddenly I felt less alone here in Sydney after so many months here and it feels good to know that you have nice friends here. I am blessed.

I happily returned to work after lunch....

After work, I stayed in office a little longer to check out air ticket prices and did some calculation. Kelly ask me to decide myself and she's willing to give me 400 swiss franc if I meet her in Malaysia. I figure out that it will be to stressful for me to handle my finance when I get back to Sydney, so I decided not to go back... sorry dad! I will continue to chant and support you from here! and will save up some money to go back soon!

feeling alittle peculiar

It's lunch time now.. I was too hungry to wait until 1pm so I went to Malibu to buy a big fat sandwich at 12pm. I've finished it!

My colleague ask me to join them for lunch at the park but I declined. Since the very first week, I have always been anticipating for lunch time where we can seat together under the sun at the park, chit chat alittle, eat and enjoy the mild winter breeze here. It's weird that I don't even feel like going out for lunch now. However in the morning, I did text my brother, Keeven for lunch but he wants to stay at home to eat Korean noodle and invited me to his place but I am too lazy to walk to his place.

Dad is going for a surgery in 2hours time, he didn't explain well to me what the surgery is all about. All I know is that 2 tubes will be inserted into his bladder and Kidney and also a biopsy for a little growth. I am really worried and he's alone in the hospital, Mom has no one to fetch her to the hospital. Please pray for Dad!

I am working on a DA (development application) submission, my colleague ask me to do many changes to what I have done which is contrary to what she ask me to do earlier and it's so frustrating. It's getting into my nerve and I am trying very hard to keep my cool.

It was certainly a Big weekend!

In the morning, I went to Kaikan (Soka Cultural Centre) with Yee Hwan and Evoline for a wonderful inspiring youth meeting.

After that, Sooi Lee and Lucy joined us, we drove to City and had lunch at Mamak Malaysia... very nice!!!!! I had Nasi Lemak... yum yum... although the nasi should be more lemak'ish but the sambal was good and the roti looks good too... but I didn't order roti.. and very ex, roti kosong $5AUD... we can have 30 keping in Malaysia...

After Lunch Evoline and I walked to Hay market to do some groceries for tonight's gado gado dinner... YES! and walked to Keeven's place to fetch him and walked back to Evo's place.

It's Sunday!

As you can see, I wore the same t-shirt as the day before because I stayed over at Yuvi's place with the rest of them.

Dim Sum!!! was our breakfast... simply delicious!!! woo.. even as I type I can still taste the Har Kao, Siew Mai, Po lo bau, egg tarts...... yum!

It's located at Bondi Junction, Kum Fook!... I am not sure whether it's the best dim sum I ever had but it's good enough for me.

Yes! Friday... My last day of work and my 2weeks-holiday begins.

We started drinking around 5 and chit chat until 6.30pm before I knock-off and walked to City to meet the girls.

We met up with Edwin and Chengai (Vir and Ivo's schoolmates, also ex-SP'ians), we had dinner at Chinatown and desert at EasyWay (buble tea) Yum!

After which, we stroll down to Oxford Street to taste a little of the Sydney G.A.Y nightlife and I walked the girls home after that.

I am back in Sydney.

Tasmania was fun and really cold, the amount of pictures we took will justify my point. ( average 200-400 a day and 800 on the second last day)

So here I am back in my room and trying to switch myself back to working mode from holiday mood.

It was the best 2 weeks here in Australia since I arrived,

all thanks to Ivonny and Virly's trip to Sydney.... met many people and holiday together with them in Sydney.... and continue our holiday in Tasmania...

Anyway, it will take me a while to edit and upload all the pictures but I am determine to do it :)

In case you are wondering why am I not updating my blog, It's because I am busy holidaying with Virly, Ivonny and all the new found friends... I am beginning to like Sydney more.... erm..... actually not really but like the people that I've met for the past week... very much indeed....

Anyway, our agenda is basically just to eat as much as we can in a day...I mean alot ...so much that I vow not to eat anymore ... but luckily I have gold fish memory, so after a while I'll crave for food again... and makan lagi ...
Therefore, I gained 2kg! :) happy fats! I don't mind....

Well, now I am back at home... to pack my stuff and move to Yuvi (Ivonny's friend) 's place and on Thursday I'll fly to Tasmania with the 2 girls... I'm gonna miss everyone I've met here... but will soon be back to Sydney and hang out with them again.... :) Ivo and Virly are planning to move here next year and to do their Masters here!!! woo hoo.... we can be housemate! provided I am still in Sydney....

Woo hoo.... my profile has been uploaded onto the office webby....

It a nice gesture to encourage their employee like me, at least I feel 'included' in the office... ~~unlike some company after a year in the office and yet didn't print namecards for me~~

Anyway, we had a meeting on Thursday and the Thailand project is on again! :) There will be 8 of us in the team (Boss S included) and 3 more suddenly-appeared-colleague-from-I-dunno-where joined us as well. Being the only Asian in the team will be an advantage to me because I can contribute a lot more on the project, simply because I am more familiar with the culture, weather, terrain.. etc.

It will be an exciting journey for the company (because is their first big Asian project) which will lead us to more opportunity if we do well and I am obviously ubber excited.

HOWEVER, they will start next Monday, having studio session for the supervillas design and that's also the day that I start my break -_- aarrrhhh!! why can't they wait for me..... Boss S wait for me... he said "unfortunately you are away" *sob sob* but at least I will have something to look forward when I return from Tasmania and will suffer less in the post holiday symptoms.

Yesterday, Ivonny and Virly finally reached Sydney.
I was so excited to meet them after work and also nervous for some reason, almost like a blind date (not that I have had one :p but I am sure this is how you will feel).

After some hugs and no kisses we walked around Chinatown before we settled at a Thai Restaurant, Chat Thai and did I mention with 16 other Indonesians... a few of them are Ivonny's ex schoolmates and miscellaneous. Don't ask me why I have so many Indon friends, I suspect I was an Indonesian in my past life.
It's nice to finally meet them and I bet they are ~~damn bloody~~ happy to fulfill their highly anticipated trip, can't blame them... from Launceston after all *fufu*.. where? Tasmania! land-way...-down-under.

However, I have to work this week.. so I don't get to accompany them alot but thank god for their hospitable Indon friends (including some candidates,edible)willing to bring them around. I felt bad, firstly for not able to provide them accommodation and now.. can't bring them around... geez I am so sorry! But this Saturday onwards I will be all yours... hehe .. I really hope you guys will have fun!

Despite of the happy cupcakes party, I have been rather negative at work.
I did not achieve my over-ambitious schedule that I put myself into (because I will be off for holiday next week, so I promised Boss S that I will finish all the tasks).
I know that I am doing my best but what irritates me is that I don't know whether my best is good enough. Even when my colleague corrected all my drawings, I have the tendency to take it as a negative criticism and felt almost like an insult to me.
I just have to deal with my own obese EGO (main characteristic of an architect and I certainly have it - half way there i guess). I got a little defensive at times but managed to keep myself down.
2 more days to go. work hard Lionel! gambatte ne...

p.s I ~~reckon~~ think we will be moving to a new office soon... hurrayyy!! I love moving! new settlement, new environment, is definitely an encouragement.... (at least to me)

Cupcakes on pitt

During my precious 1-hour lunch yesterday, as I was walking along pitt street while speaking on my mobile with Virly, I found the Cupcakes shop! YES..i thought to myself... finally found it!

So I decided to buy 8 cupcakes for my office.

We waited for Boss S and Ms Cr to come back from a meeting before we started our cupcakes party! They were really happy... (kononnya baik hati, more like beli hati .. hehe) We gathered around the cupcakes in a circle and (started from me) each one of us chose our desired cupcakes. It was quite a decision to make to choose from 8 different types of beautiful, cute little (mini) cupcakes.

well, I finally decided to post some of my works .. because 10 students from my cohort were ask to send key images to the school for a magazine publication (either Architecture Australia magazine or Monument magazine) and I was one of them :) hopefully it will be published... so look out.. but I don't know whether our names will be acknowledged or will it be just anonymous ..

Anyway, the project brief is an actual brief to propose an Austrialia architecture museum, which most of the first world countries have, but sadly Oz yet to own one of their own.

I am looking forward for my next semester to do better!

I had my first haircut in Sydney from a Thai hairstylist. He has only 1 chair in his saloon and it is pretty secluded, tuck behind the busy street of oxford.

So, I made an appointment with him last week. Hom is his name.
